ABOUT CHCLCS

Chapel Hill Chinese Language and Culture School (CHCLCS)

Chapel Hill Chinese Language and Culture School is a not-for-profit and volunteer-based 501 (C) (3) tax exempt organization. We started as a group of parents who had a passion to create the best Chinese learning experience for our children. We put our heads and hearts together, and made our dream come true. We strive to provide a nurturing learning environment in which children can play, explore and build their Chinese language skills.

We offer weekly evening courses for children and adults. Our program follows 5C and Pre-AP guidelines. 5C stands for Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities, which are National Standards for Foreign Language Learning. We prepare our students for AP Chinese language and culture courses offered in high schools. By taking AP Chinese Language and Culture courses, students get a head start on college-level work and demonstrate their maturity and readiness for college. Students have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation’s colleges and universities through AP Chinese Language and Culture Exams, which test four skills in Chinese – speaking, reading, writing/typing, and listening.

The school meets at Pilgrim United Church of Christ at 3011 Academy Road, Durham, NC 27707 at 6:15-8:15PM on Fridays.
