Flu Season Alert

posted Oct 3, 2014, 9:24 AM by Alice Hsu

Dear CHCLCS families,

As we enter the cold and flu season. CHCLCS would like to take this opportunity to reinforce some important facts on preventing our children and ourselves from becoming ill this flu season. If a student shows any signs of illness, teachers have the right to send him/her to the admin staff to avoid exposing others.

  1. The most important act of illness prevention is in frequently washing hands and using hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Keep surfaces cleaned as well.

  2. Keep children at home when they are sick and especially if they have a fever, a runny nose or are coughing.

  3. Consider getting a flu shot/ mist for yourselves and children.

  4. Take care of yourselves and get plenty of rest.

FLU ALERT – SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT

http://health.uri.edu/docs/fluremedy.pdf

"You are most contagious from the day before your symptoms begin, through the period of prominent symptoms. Symptoms usually last a week, but coughing can persist for 3 to 4 weeks. You should go home if possible to avoid exposing others. "

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Parking Lot Safety

posted Aug 11, 2014, 5:48 AM by Chapel Hill Chinese Language and Cultural School   [ updated Aug 25, 2014, 4:29 AM by Bruce Su ]

Dear CHCLCS Families,

Several parents raised a concern about the safety of our children at the parking lot upon school dismissal. As you may have experienced that many kids went out and played outside as soon as the school is over while other parents are pulling their cars away to go home. From time to time, a kid or two may step onto the driveway and create dangerous situations for both the kids themselves and the driver and her family. To address the safety concern, I sincerely ask you to do the following:

(1) If it is not too much of an inconvenience, please park on the sides of the church building - INSTEAD OF the parking spaces right in front of the main entrance of the church building. It may take you a few more steps to walk into the building, but it will create a car-free zone for our children as they step outside of the church.

(2) Please come pick up your child(ren) immediately upon class dismissal. If your child(ren) would like to stay a while to play with friends, at least you are there to supervise them. You will feel much better, too.

(3) As you walk your child(ren) into the church building today, please ask them, and point out on-site, not to step out onto the driveway UNTIL you are with him/her/them.

The above may represent some inconveniences for you, but will improve the safety of our children significantly. As a parent myself, I thank you for your cooperation!

If you have any other recommendations or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thank you very much,

CHCLCS Administration Team
